This hiking tour combines the most important and treasured assets of Burgundy : wine, cuisine, and heritage. It is also the perfect Burgundy wine tour to discover the most famous and delicious wines of the region. The tour starts in Dijon and finishes in Beaune. Follow the Burgundy Wine Route or "Route du Vin" famous since the Gallo-Roman era, the trail runs through the heart of the Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits Saint Georges vineyards, through the wine village of Savigny les Beaune and many more renowned vineyards. Along the road you will find numerous wine cellars. Here are some suggestions on your itinerary. Most of the time, but not always, wine tasting is free if it is followed by a sale. If you decide not to buy anything, you could be asked to pay a fee for the tasting. Prices vary from cellars to cellars, and it can be anywhere from 5€ up to 15€ or more, depending among other things on how many wines you tasted.To avoid any confusion, when you arrive at a cellar always ask if there is any fee to taste the wine.

Arrival in Dijon. (transfer on your own to the hotel), This city has easy access by train from Paris. You can explore the old city, the beautiful palace of the dukes of Burgundy in which is housed the Art museum. You can also see the Ste Benigne's cathedral. Settle in your hotel conveniently located in the center of the city.

From Dijon to Gevrey Chambertin

Explore Dijon in the early morning and then transfer by taxi at 9:30 am to start hiking to Gevrey Chambertin.

You will enter the vineyards of Cotes de Nuits and check out the wine, the village is the only one that produces rosé wine ! Pass the oldest church of the region before arriving at Gevrey-Chambertin. In the village, there is an interesting 10th century castle with an old vaulted wine cellar.

Distance : 19 Km (12 mi).

Elevation : 456 m.

NOTE : There are no restaurants or bakeries on your itinerary. Before you leave Dijon, make sure you bought your lunch or picnic.

From Gevrey Chambertin to Nuits St Georges

Pick up the GR7 trail and hike to Nuits Saint Georges, with its picturesque streets around the belfry.

You will walk through the Route des Grands Crus and discover several wine villages of the Cote de Nuits vineyards, such as Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot or Vosne Romanee. Vosne Romanee, together with Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin, produces the region's best red wines. Overnight in Nuits Saint Georges.

A taxi will transfer you at 9:30 am to Arcenant, from where you will catch the GR76 to Beaune, famous for its hospices. Today's itinerary will take you to the famous wine villages of Savigny les Beaune and Pernand Vergelesses.
