| At
the border of Brittany and Normandy in France, the Bay of the
Mont Saint Michel shelters one of the jewels of the western
Christian art, the iconic Mont Saint Michel. The region around
the Mont is mostly flat, at first glance the bay is nothing
more than a sandy marsh, covered by the sea depending on the
tide. Originally this Mount was just a huge rock on which the church builders used the most imaginative techniques to erect what is now a masterpiece listed by the UNESCO amongst the ten monuments in the world to be protected. You will start in the beautiful seaside city of St Malo and begin a walk along the coast with the Mont constantly in view. Your anticipation will be heightened the closer you get, and along the way you will be charmed by the quiet beauty, the original flora, the thousands of birds that nest or fly through the bay. |

Day
1: Arrival day in St Malo, the "city of the sea".
St. Malo is a famous seaside resort town and a famous sailing city as
it is connected to many major sailing events. Located just near the
beach, your very charming 3 star hotel is ideally located to explore
this beautiful city. Receive maps and route info; dinner included. (D)
Day 2: St Malo to Cancale - 20 km
Leave the city of St Malo on the walking path along the coast which goes from beaches to ‘Pointe du Grouin’ the fabulous ornithological reserve and wonderful site looking over the Mont St Michel bay. Continue on this path and enjoy the wild flower and sea breath fragrance. Join the charming and typical port of Cancale famous for the oyster farms. Excellent 3 star hotel awaits with dinner included. (B,D)
Day 3: Cancale - La Gouesniere - 15 km
Still on the old ‘sentiers des Douaniers’ (border patrol path) go along the coast and beaches before reaching the village ‘St Benoit des Ondes’. Then, continue on countryside routes to discover another view of Brittany. Charming 3 star hotel and dinner await you. (B,D)
Day 4: Cherrueix– Mont St Michel- 15 km
Transfer by taxi up to the village of Cherrueix, and continue along
the Mont-Saint-Michel bay walking through sandy beaches and marshlands.
Along this stage you will also enjoy meeting with sheeps in salt pastures
at the foot of Mont Saint Michel. You have a top quality 4 star hotel
with views on the Mont from the rooms awaiting you.

Day 5: Mont St Michel - departure day
Take your time if you want more to visit the Mont and then when ready,
a taxi can get you to the nearest rail station. The taxi is not included
but available for a small supplement of 14 euros/person to Pontorson,
or 87 euros/person to Rennes. This can also be arranged by you with
the hotel. (B)
